Possessing varied feeling vocabulary allows us to express feelings in nuance, interrupt patterns, and supports relationships. I use the following list to put feelings on a continuum, naming them at different points, and asking 'can we stop here?' For example, a student who expressed fury looked back on his feelings and noted "First I felt left out, then uncertain, then sad, then angry, then alone, and then fury". This process of backward analysis allowed us to identify intervention points and implementations along the continuum.
